This 1834 second edition followed quickly on the success of Lady Scott's 1833 1st edition of Trevelyan. A tale of early 19th century society, touching on aspects of colonialism and race, Trevelyan was popular, helping further establish Lady Scott's career, and many editions of this work followed.

Physical Attributes -

Each vol. measures approx. 19 x 12 x 1.5 cm. Calf spines and corners, with marbled paper covered boards. All edges marbled. Spine with five compartments ruled in gilt; one compartment with title in gilt on red morocco. Pages - 299, 286, 292

Condition -

See pictures. Handsome books, lightly worn. Boards have edge and corner wear, with a little rubbing at joints, spine and boards. Spines are sunned. "109" written on pastedown of each volume. Many bookseller notes in front blank endpapers. Turn-ins have ghosted endpapers. Light soiling on title pages. Light toning throughout. Occasional spots. Mostly quite clean.
