Richly illustrated circa-1850 manuscript on physics. The text and illustrations follow closely Adolphe Ganot's Traite Elementaire de Physique Experimental... but the figures are sometimes better illustrated. This manuscript contains over 250 illustrations.
Ganot's work was one of the most successful works on physics in the 19th century, being translated, republished, and taught at university through the 19th century, after first appearing in 1850.
The earliest copy of Ganot's work scanned online is an 1854 edition, and can be found in Google Books (free of charge). I found the illustrations and text line up closely, but this manuscript has fewer illustrations then the 1854 edition. It is possible this manuscript was based on one of the earliest editions of Ganot's work, was abridged, or it was produced in Ganot's class.
Looking through this work you'll find the foundations of electricity, steam power, optics, etc.. Personally, I see the science leading to photography/moving pictures, steam trains and tractors, electric generators, hydraulic rams, etc..
