unpublished 19th century English poetry manuscript by John Woodhouse

A handsomely bound and well-kept collection of 19th century poetry produced by one John Woodhouse. 35 leaves with poetry on them, and four pages of inserted leaves of poetry (that look like they're in a different hand).

The binding also states "Woodhouse 1823", indicating that he was the author.

The 1st leaf states that the book was a gift from a John Hopcraft, "With John Hopcraft's Fine Regards, July 23rd 1823".

There are 108 leaves of blank laid paper behind those that are written on.

I've done many exact word searches on the poetry, and have found no returned results. I think the work was never published. Plus, a "John Woodhouse" is largely unknown.

The poetry is upbeat, generally about love, God, etc..

I had some plan to transcribe the poetry and publish them to Amazon as a self-publish book (crediting My Woodhouse as author). I just haven't had time.

I did find one of the inserted poems in exact word searches. I think those were gifts, or something, to the author.

Physical Attributes -

Measures approx. 24.5 x 19 x 3 cm. Black vertical straight-grain morocco binding. Boards framed with a greek key roll in gilt. Spine with gilt fillets forming 6 compartments, one compartment with "Woodhouse 1823" in gilt. Board edges ruled in gilt. All edges gilt (AEG). Marbled endpapers.

Condition -

See pictures. Binding with some wear to edge and corners, a little rubbing to boards, and slight sunning to spine. Looks like a label was removed from the pastedown. Bookseller notes at upper-left of flyleaf. 1st two leaves mounted. Between 2nd and 3rd leaf there are three stubs at the gutter; either one sheet, or three sheets, were removed (it depends if the two mounted leaves are the removed leaves). 1st leaf with a little soiling, thumbing, and a wrinkle. Second leaf with a smudge at the top. Occasional spot in the paper throughout. Mostly clean.
