An alluring red morocco binding, with beautiful green brocade endpapers, decorates binds this 1746 Almanach Royal. These were yearly almanacs, produced for those well-off in 18th century France. They contained a calendar, some who's who, etc.. They are often found with the arms of important French families in gilt on the bindings. This example with out a family crest, but beautiful with a wonderful red morocco binding, and glittering brocade endpapers.

Measures approx. 19 x 12.5 x 2.5 cm. Red morocco binding. Boards framed in gilt comprised by one roll, one fillet and an inner frame of leafing plants with florets. Spine with five raised bands; five compartments with a central gilt fleur-de-lis and corner fleur-de-lis, stars and dots, and one compartment with the title and year in gilt. All edges gilt. Brocade endpapers. 441 pages.
See pictures. Beautiful binding, with a little wear at edges, joints. There's the slightest damage at the top of the spine (see pictures). Ex libris tickets removed but evidenced at blank endpapers. Bookseller notes on blank front endpaper, "mm9v", "6am", and "27". Some toning, fox spots, occasional thumb, etc. throughout. Spot on rear brocade endpapers.
