An attractive red morocco binding, with clasps, adorns these four almanac-like works, bound together; 1784 Rider's British Merlin, 1784 The Royal Kalendar, 1781 Heraldry in Miniature and 1784 Companion to the Royal Kalendar; each with their own title page and pagination.
At the rear there is a small manuscript map of the North coast of Devon drawn on a blank leaf.
Physical Attributes -
Measures approx. 17.5 x 14.5 x 4 cm. Red morocco binding. Boards framed in gilt with flowering ribbons and fillet tools. Spine with four raised bands; four compartments richly tooled with flower and leaf tools, one compartment with "1784" in the middle of the compartment. All edges gilt. Numerous illustrated arms within the Heraldry work.

Condition -
See pictures. Binding with a little wear, edge wear. A little fading of gilt. Clasps are not polished. Gilt edges slightly darkened.
Paper with toning towards edges and light foxing throughout, as typical to paper of the time. Title page with tax duty stamp.
The first two leaves (four pages) of the peerages of Scotland are moved forward, to the start of the peerages (because it includes the crown). Small chip at fore-edge of page 1 Peerages England. When returning to Scotland (after the Peers of England) at page 5, the leaf is torn across mid-way, and 5/6 and the following leaf (7/8) have a moisture mark and 9/10 has the bottom corner chipped away.
At the rear blank unpaginated leaf there is a hand-drawn map.
