A fairly nice Civil War era example of a Boston Farmer's Almanack, printed for 1865. The typical almanac fare is within, but notable civil war battles of the previous years are noted in the dates.
These almanacs really are a fascinating thing, with hints of the Book of Hours' calendars from the medieval period, with a page dedicated to each month, with the holidays and other occurrences listed to the right of the date.
Physical Attributes -
Measures approx. 20 x 13 cm.. In a yellow wrapper, which was printed at Taggard & Thompson.
See pictures. Considering that it's in a wrap and over one hundred and fifty years old, its condition is notable. There is a little lean to the wrapper. Some page edges are chipped. Several small marks on wrapper, including the remnants of a price sticker at rear top margin (no text affected). Some toning and brown spots within. Tipped-in advertisement for "Mrs. Cornelius' Cook Book" still present at title page.
