1853 Complete Poetical Works of John Milton. Biography and notes by Rev. Gilfillan. Printed by James Nichol, Edinburgh.

$209.99

A beautiful binding, signed by J. Wright, homes this 1853 two-part (bound into one) Scottish printing of Milton's Poetic Works. At to top edge you'll find the most delightful place holder I've come across, a carved bird; for me, it belongs with the book, so I'm selling it along.

In addition to Milton's well-known Paradise Lost, and Samson Agonistes, you'll find some lesser known works like his Sonnets, Odes and Translations (several of Dante, perhaps unsurprising).

Rev. George Gilfillan provides a biography ("Life), Critical Dissertation, and Explanatory Notes.
