Condition -

See pictures. Fresh bindings on both, with only a small fingernail (or ring) rub on the back of Through the Looking-Glass. Both books have fresh endpapers. They retain their original gilt, with a little fading to top-edges.

Both have ex-libris inscriptions on the half-title. Frontis tissue in-place in both volumes Both have some soiling, darkening near edges, and thumbing, consistent with well-loved classics.

Wonderland has some spotting near bottom edge throughout, and occasional fox spot. Picture at 15 faint, hint of pink suggests color erased, upper corner of 29 chipped away, 75-78 small fore-edge chip, small ink spot on 182-3, 2 cm tear top-edge 187.

Glass has occasional fox spots, candle ember mark on 66-67, top corners just barely chipped away 81-86, small ink spot on 90, some dog-eared pages, 2 cm. tear top-edge of 165.

Despite notes, both are beautiful books that, due to some small signs of use/time, and the retention of the original gilt edges, look lovingly aged, precious and honest.
