Jacques Marchant's expansive work on Flanders, this edition published in 1596. Translated (roughly) to English, the title is:
Flanders described in four books of Commentaries: in which the origin of Flanders, its goods, towns, castellans, orders, magistrates, natives, and other things are memorably, concisely and lucidly treated.
About the Author -
Jacques Marchant (1537-1609) was a historian, author, poet and tutor in Belgium.
Provenance -
At the top of the title page is the inscription, "Bibliotheca de Claromarisco". Claromarisco is the name St. Bernard gave an abbey he formed in 1140 in North France, just outside Saint-Omer. During the French Revolution the abbey site became a "common".

See pictures. Some cockling (waviness) to binding. Ties no longer extant. Spine darkened, faded name in old hand, some other signs of library tickets to binding. Binding a little tight. Pastedown and flyleaf with “Kron 176” and other bookseller marks. Library name in manuscript at top of title page. Text block with some toning throughout, also occasional thumbing, dog-eared page, fox spot, etc. A5 and A6 with underlining. T-Z gatherings, moisture mark at bottom margin (no text affected), about 2” wide. Page 369 with ink thumb to bottom. Bottom corner of b2 either deckled or chipped. Tiny wormhole through back Yapp edge and drilling through the fore-edge of last two gatherings (c and d gatherings).
