Originally printed in 1931, but only limited to 250 copies, this is a 1972 (also limited) reproduction of The Life of Jim Baker (the frontiersman), with a new forward by Peter Decker. This copy is numbered 28, of 126 and signed by the artist who provided the frontis (a photo of his painting of Baker), and by Peter Decker.

Also includes a large fold-out map.

From the publisher in a slipcase, the book is in excellent condition.

About Jim Baker -

Jim Baker (1818–1898) was a frontiersman, trapper, hunter, fur trader, explorer, army scout, interpreter, soldier, territorial militia officer, rancher, mine owner, toll keeper and mountain man. He was a friend of Jim Bridger and Kit Carson and one of General John C. Fremont's favorite scouts.

Measures approx. 23.5 x 15.5 x 2.5 cm. Leather spine with decorative paper boards. Title and author in copper on spine. Photograph frontis. Illustrated with photos relevant to Baker. One large fold-out map. 234 pages. In slipcase (matching, from publisher).

Condition -

See pictures. Very little wear. Just light wear to slipcase. Book is almost perfect, but just slightly out of square due to the large map the publisher put within.
