An early American stereotype quarto Bible, published by Collins in 1818. Because the British did not allow the colonies to print the English Bible, production in America didn't begin until after the Revolutionary War. This 1818 example was the second edition of the first quarto Bible to use the stereotype printing method in 1814.
Also included within this binding are an Index, an Alphabetical Table of all the Names in the Old and New Testaments..., Table of Scripture Weights, Measures... and a Concordance by John Brown.

Measures approx. 27.5 x 22 x 8.5 cm, 4to. Calf binding. Spine with five raised bands, title in one compartment. Illustrated. 927 pages, 24 index pages.
Condition -
See pictures. Vintage patina, with the pleasing look of history. Binding well worn, especially at edges and corners. Boards and spine rubbed and sunned also. Joints are tender, with a little cracking, but still holding. Hinges are cracked. No endpapers. Light name on pastedown. Foxing and toning throughout. Fore-edge margin ink stain 811-819, barely touches text. Occasional page edge tear, chipped corner, etc..
