An in-depth ten day devotional for those consecrated to God, printed in 1714 in France. With an attractive contemporary binding.

The author, Jean Baptiste Elie Avrillon, was a Franciscan in the convent of Minims. A preacher, he is well-regarded and many of his works have been translated into other languages.

Physical Attributes -

Measures approx. 17.5 x 9.5 x 4 cm.. Calf binding. Spine with five raised bands; five compartments with a central gilt floret, and one with the title in gilt. Speckled edges. 647 pages.

Condition -

See pictures. Wear consistent with age and use. Edge and corner wear, rubbing to binding. Chipping at top of spine, some crazing (cracking) to leather surface of spine. A number of inscriptions on the pastedown (and ghosted onto the flyleaf) in an old hand. Mostly clean throughout, but slight toning and occasional fox spot. Ex-libris inscription on back of title page. Fire ember hole (less than 1 cm) through last blank leaf and burning into rear paste-down. Some numbers written at top of rear pastedown.
