A nice all-in-one vintage edition of Shakespeare's Works. With a small biography by a Rossetti, and illustrated. A charming 1909 receipt for a "Lady Layton" to have it bound in Surrey is tucked within the cover.
Physical Attributes -
Measures approx. 21 x 14.5 x 5 cm. Green morocco spine and corners with (faux) shagreen covering the boards. Spine with raised bands, gilt decoration and "Shakespeare" in gilt. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Illustrated. 974 pages.
Condition -
See pictures. Rear joint is cracked from top to halfway. Joints feel thin. Some wear to corners and edges, with a few rubs to boards and spine. Bookseller price on blank unpaginated endpaper. Title page with some crease marks. I do not find any tears or annotations in the text block. Perhaps the paper is a little toned.
